The New Leaders and Why They’re Out In Front

Seth Godin’s latest book, Tribes: We Need You to Lead Us, a bestseller, is about the most powerful form of marketing (according to Godin) –leadership–and how anyone can become a leader, by creating movements with purpose.

Seth Godin argues the Internet has ended mass marketing and revived a human social unit from the distant past: tribes.  Founded on shared ideas and values, tribes give ordinary people the power to lead and make big change. He urges us to do so.

It’s up to each one of us to lead in today’s new kind of world.
(former U.S. Senator Bill Bradley)

The internet eliminates the barriers of geography, cost and time, connecting people and groups in ways unheard of 20 years ago.  New “tribes” are being formed and existing “tribes” are growing with the help of blogs and social networking sites.

Who’s leading these tribes? The people with the passion and drive to make things happen are becoming the new leaders with the internet providing them a platform.

In Tribes, Godin gives several examples of new leaders on the internet, here are two examples:

It included an on-going series of workshops and concerts around the UK, and created an extraordinary volume of media interest in newspapers, on television, radio and the internet.  Website & Blog: http://www.Tasminlittle.net
